Training for staff & volunteers

Home Energy and Fuel Poverty training

There are a wide range of organisation that offer home energy support and training for staff/volunteers as well as sessions for residents. The information below sets out the current offers available and how to contact the organisations that deliver them to discuss. (Please note this webpage is currently being updated.)

If you are an organisation offering training or sessions please contact the West Sussex Fuel Poverty Coordinator who can list them below. Or for any further information you can contact:

affordable.warmth@arun.gov.uk

1. Citizens Advice

Free energy training for West Sussex frontline workers

Available for teams that are likely to come into contact with people living in cold homes. Training can be delivered in person or online and for any knowledge level.

To book a 1 hour online session email: m.baker@arunchichester.cab.org.uk

or for bespoke or in person sessions email Nathalie: n.cohen@arunchichestercab.org

2. National Energy Action (NEA)

Sessions available for residents/vulnerable groups on saving energy and more…

Rebecca Jones, local Project Development Coordinator at NEA is available to provide face to face guidance and signposting to vulnerable people, on understanding bills and meters, energy efficiency, reducing mould and condensation, fuel debt, saving money, health issues exacerbated or caused by being too cold and lots more.

She is happy to deliver this information in lots of ways such as talks to groups, drop ins, casual chats to people over a cuppa in a community café – whatever suits your service users, you and your colleagues really.

She can also come along to events you are running, or are involved with, with an information stand or even run quizzes and bingo sessions with a prize!

Everything is free and impartial of course. The focus is very much about helping people stay affordably warm and the support available locally and nationally.

She can be pretty flexible about the length and type of session and have been doing this for several years now so am happy to come along to other organisations events or advice sessions.

Please get in touch for a chat about a talk/info session or just send me an invite to an event.
